eattle Mini Medical School’s Commitments to Privacy
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information we obtain from you. It applies to information we receive over the Internet, by phone, fax, mail, or other means. By using the Sites (defined below), you accept this Privacy Policy. Please read it carefully before using Seattle Mini Medical School’s (SMMS) Sites.
Definitions
SMMS (or “We”) means Seattle Mini Medical School and its subsidiaries and affiliated companies. “SMMS School Program” refers to a school that offers education programs or services we provide. “Local School” refers to the school that contracts with us for a SMMS School Program. “Personal Information” (or “PI”) means information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate someone. “Non-PI” means information that cannot be used to identify, contact, or locate someone. “Sites” refers to SMMS’s websites, including minimedicalschool.org.
Student Records and Legal Compliance
SMMS complies with laws protecting education records, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and state laws. Only authorized entities may access these records, and they must maintain confidentiality as required by law. SMMS does not use PI for advertising, does not sell PI, and does not create profiles illegally. SMMS only uses PI for purposes related to providing or improving education unless permission is granted. In case of conflict between this policy and FERPA or other laws, SMMS follows the standard that provides greater protection.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information
We automatically receive Non-PI from your web browser or device, such as your IP address, the page visited before ours, pages you visit on our Site, and time spent on each page.
Use of Non-Personally Identifiable Information
We use this information to monitor and improve our Site, study Internet traffic trends, administer the Site, and gather information.
Sharing Non-Personally Identifiable Information
Except for cookies, Non-PI is shared only if required by law, allowed for law enforcement, health or safety purposes, collected within the SMMS Online School for your child’s Local School, shared with companies assisting us in providing SMMS School Programs, or to protect SMMS’s legal rights.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit our Sites. They do not collect PI but help us adapt content to your interests. Cookies from other companies may provide relevant information on other websites. You may accept or decline cookies through your browser settings, but declining may limit interactive features of our Sites. You may opt out of third-party marketing cookies via the Digital Advertising Alliance Consumer Choice Page and the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Personally Identifiable Information
Some Site features require you to provide PI voluntarily, such as registering for a Local School program, requesting information, signing up for events, or making purchases. PI collected may include your name, address, phone number, email, children’s names and ages, registration details, and payment information.
Sharing Personally Identifiable Information
PI may be shared with your Local School or legally required parties, including state and federal agencies. Third parties assisting SMMS receive only the information needed to perform their duties and are required to maintain confidentiality. PI may also be shared to improve educational performance or offer relevant services if permitted by law. You may request that PI not be shared by emailing tanlam@minimedicalschool.org. SMMS does not sell PI for monetary compensation; Nevada residents may opt out of sales of PI through the same contact.
Use of Personally Identifiable Information
SMMS uses PI to provide educational services, support academic progress, testing, attendance, and customer service. PI may also be used for legal protection and to respond to inquiries. Member IDs and passwords in the Online School allow tracking of attendance, schoolwork, and testing. PI may be used to provide information about new SMMS products or services, or combined to improve educational experiences.
Children Under 13
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) protects children under 13. SMMS only collects information for children under 13 through parents or guardians when enrolled in a Local School. Children may provide information directly in the Online School for educational purposes. The Sites do not request PI from children under 13 outside of this context. To report accidental collection, email tanlam@minimedicalschool.org.
California Privacy Rights
California residents may request information regarding disclosure of PI for direct marketing purposes or request that PI not be shared. SMMS also complies with the Student Online Personal Information Protection Act, effective January 1, 2016.

Information posted on message boards or chat rooms is publicly available and not private. Use such features at your own risk. SMMS may monitor or publish postings from these areas.
